Putin really shouldn't be trying to piss off Scholz and Macron. They're the only major Western leaders whose resolve to stand up to him was iffy when this started, every slight he makes increases the odds of them finding their balls. If Putin wasn't a fucking retard he'd be trying to butter up the leaders of western Europe constantly like the Chinese do to New Zealand's leadership.

It reminds me of Prigozhin saying that NZ's (female, Maori) foreign minister both looked like a man and looked like a criminal due to her tattoos. NZ still has some stuff they could give Ukraine, and I'm crossing my fingers that Prigozhin or someone else will make a slight like that against France or Germany.

Show your Critical Tables (If You Use 'Em)

Main Post:

Let's see some critical tables, man. One of my faviourite Youtube personalities is Seth Skorkowski. I started using a modified version of his critical tables for my 2e campaign, but kept refining it to this. I like that a kobold could conceivably kill a 20th level character in one shot. I also like that a 1st level character can possibly slay a dragon in one hit (something that happened in one of Seth's own games; I love that story). I recently had a character in one of my games lose an arm after an orc got a 99 on his critical hit. The character has recovered, but she is learning how to use her other arm to fight with. It has added a new level to our playing.

I retire players at 10th level. Not a fan of high+ level play. I tend to level my players' characters slowly, and my games are deadly. I reward clever thinking. Something that reinforces that kind of play is putting characters in an environment where their resources and wits matter. A critical table like this makes players sweat, even at high levels.

This post is for folks that like to use critical tables. Please only respond if you use such tables for your games.

Crits are a bad idea and critical fumbles are an awful one. You're "rewarding" characters who are better at attacking and thus attack more times per round with more horrible failures. A trained master-class warrior drops his sword or worse once out of every twenty times he swings it? That's, on average, once every 10 rounds for a high level fighter.
